The 10th Istanbul Carbon Summit, with the main support of the Ministry of Environment, Urbanisation and Climate Change and Istanbul Technical University (ITU), was held on April 14-15, 2025 by the Sustainable Production and Consumption Association (SÜT-D) with high stakeholder participation.

Chemical Engineering Department Faculty Member and SÜT-D President Prof. Dr. Filiz Karaosmanoğlu drew attention to the fact that the event was our country's first and only "carbon neutral" summit within the framework of priority carbon management capacity building targets.

In his presentation titled "A Future Situation Assessment Focused on Sustainability: Challenges, Potentials, Future", ITU Rector Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal explained the place of climate change in global risks; the current urgency and developments of the fifth industrial revolution including sustainable systems; and the transformation of R&D and innovation processes.

Prof. Dr. Mandal visited the exhibition and received technical information with Dean of the Faculty of Chemical and Metallurgical Engineering Prof. Dr. Sebahattin Gürmen and Prof. Dr. Karaosmanoğlu.

On the second day of the summit, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Lütfiye Durak Ata also visited the exhibition. It was stated that a “Post Summit Report” and “Presentation E-Book” covering the outputs of the event will be prepared at the end.

Prof. Dr. Karaosmanoğlu stated, “We reward greenhouse gas reduction achievements in social and governance indicators, especially environmental indicators, under the heading of sustainability management. We create value by communicating with candidates when necessary for our award, which is not presented through a competition. In addition to our candidates, we also evaluate the achievements of individuals and institutions determined by SÜT-D’s monitoring,” and continued his words by emphasizing that they broke the application record this year.

The award presentations were made by ITU Vice Rector Prof. Dr. İpek Akın Karadayı.
